Fragrance Story

Tonka beans are the large black wrinkled seeds of a large tree known as Coumarou indigenous to the rainforests of Central and South America, where the beans are considered an aphrodisiac and believed to summon courage and money. When Tonka Beans were first introduced to France in 1793, their aroma instantly took off in perfumery, and they became on of the essential notes of fine perfumes such as Guerlain’s iconic scent, Shalimar.
